Good news, Samsung fans! You can now snag a Certified Re-Newed Galaxy S25 series phone in the UK, Germany, and France. This means you can get your hands on a top-of-the-line smartphone while potentially saving some money and contributing to a more sustainable approach. Samsung initially launched this program in the US back in August, and now it's expanding its reach across the pond.
In the UK and Germany, the program goes by the name "Certified Re-Newed," while in France, it's called "Refurbished Premium By Samsung," or "Reconditionné Premium par Samsung." But don't let the different names confuse you; the core offering remains the same.
Here's a quick rundown of what's available, with links to check out the options:
- UK:
- Galaxy S25: 128/256/512GB
- Galaxy S25+: 256/512GB
- Galaxy S25 Ultra: 512GB
- Germany:
- Galaxy S25: 512GB - €860
- Galaxy S25+: 512GB - €1,040
- Galaxy S25 Ultra: 256GB - €1,240
- France:
- Galaxy S25: 256GB - €800
- Galaxy S25+: 256GB - €1,000
- Galaxy S25 Ultra: 256GB - €1,250
Important Note: Availability can vary depending on the specific model and storage configuration. It's also worth noting that, as far as we know, the Edge and FE models aren't currently part of this program, as they were released later.
So, what exactly does "Certified Re-Newed" mean? Only the best returned units make the cut. These phones undergo a rigorous process, including thorough cleaning and over 100 quality tests. Any necessary repairs are done using genuine Samsung parts, including a brand-new, certified battery. Plus, they get the latest software updates and a fresh IMEI number.
And this is the part most people miss: The refurbished phones come in a new box made from recyclable materials, and they include the same in-box items as a new device, which these days typically means just a USB-C cable and a SIM ejector tool.
Samsung stands behind its Certified Re-Newed phones by offering the same warranty as it does for brand-new units. This is a significant advantage over many third-party refurbishment deals.
Want extra peace of mind? You can also sign up for Samsung Care+, which provides a free battery replacement if its health drops below 80% and offers extra protection in case of theft.
According to Jun Kim, EVP and Head of Galaxy Value Innovation Team, Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics, "We're excited to expand our Certified Re-Newed program in European markets to provide customers with more options for purchasing flagship devices. While contributing to the circular economy, we hope more customers can experience our latest innovations, including Galaxy AI."
But here's where it gets controversial... Samsung US also offers Galaxy Z units (up to Z Flip6 and Z Fold6) as part of its Certified Re-Newed program, which are not available in Europe yet.
What do you think? Are you more inclined to purchase a refurbished phone if it comes with a warranty from the manufacturer? Do you think the lack of the Edge and FE models is a significant drawback? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
