HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) is actively seeking new recruits for the role of state conservation officers. This is a chance to play an essential role in safeguarding the islands' unique ecological and cultural heritage.
Starting on January 3, applications will open for 53 entry-level positions within the Division of Conservation and Resources Enforcement, commonly known as DOCARE. As DOCARE Chief Jason Redulla emphasizes, "Protecting Hawaii’s natural, cultural, historical, and recreational resources is a unique privilege." He notes that interest in this vital work has always been substantial. Given the distinctive working environment in Hawaii and the limited number of positions available, we anticipate this trend will persist.
The state currently has openings in various locations throughout Hawaii, making this an exciting opportunity for those looking to make a difference right where they live. Positions as Conservation and Resources Enforcement Officers are full-time, permanent civil service roles, which provide stability and the chance to be part of a dedicated team.
Redulla further elaborated, stating, "Our area of responsibility is vast, stretching from the mountains (mauka) to the sea (makai), and extends three miles offshore. There is no shortage of work to be done, and we are eager to expand our ranks with committed individuals."

To qualify for these positions, applicants must meet several basic criteria, including:
- Being at least 21 years old at the time of application

- Complying with federal and state firearms regulations
